Anxiety Therapy

Is Constant Worry Preventing You From Feeling Relaxed?
Are you having difficulty sleeping at night because your mind is reeling with worrisome, anxious thoughts? Do you struggle to maintain your relationships because overthinking causes you to feel insecure or untrusting? Does it feel like anxiety has taken control of where you go, what you do, and who you interact with?
Perhaps you feel overwhelmed by stress at your school or job. Maybe you struggle to concentrate because no matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to quiet your racing thoughts. At face value, you seem to have life all figured out, but behind closed doors, your functionality and happiness are at the mercy of anxiety.
Symptoms Of Anxiety Disorders Show Up In Many Ways
With anxiety disorders, you may experience tearful or crying spells, a fast heartbeat, sweaty palms, GI issues, headaches, fatigue, or panic attacks. Or maybe a poor appetite and irregular sleep patterns are throwing off your daily routine.
In social settings, you may become more withdrawn and avoidant. And perhaps you never step outside your comfort zone because you're plagued by thoughts of how people may perceive you.
Some examples of anxiety disorders we frequently treat include:
Having to live with anxiety can make life feel challenging and frustrating. However, we specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders and would like to help you. Everyone Experiences Anxiety To Some Extent
Anxiety is more common than most people think. Nearly everyone has faced it at some point in their life. In the majority of instances, anxiety is temporary and the body’s way of responding to an uneasy or stressful situation. For example, it’s normal for people to feel nervous about a big exam, work presentation, job interview, or having to give a speech on graduation day.
However, sometimes worry can become incessant and debilitating, and that is when anxiety can begin to negatively affect an individual’s quality of life.

Anxiety Is Often As A Result Of Societal Norms
Unfortunately, we are surrounded by an unhealthy amount of expectations and pressures. Many of us spend significant time on social media, caught up in a cycle of constant comparison to people we don’t even know.
Society demands that our personal and professional lives must be of a certain standard, and if we fail to live up to this standard, we are made to feel inadequate. This pressure to look and act a certain way is preventing us from being present and enjoying life as it is.
On top of that, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were conditioned to fear other people and fear being outside our homes. The rules and regulations we abided by to protect our safety created hyper-vigilance and constant worry in many people’s lives.
If anxiety has been overshadowing your life, we want to help. Anxiety treatment with Elevation Behavioral Therapy can help ease your burden by pinpointing what may be triggering your symptoms, teaching you techniques to effectively manage them, and giving you peace of mind.

Anxiety Treatment Sessions – What to Expect
Our sessions will concentrate on teaching you awareness. Together with our licensed therapists, you will work on the core issues surrounding your anxiety, how you can prepare for triggers and cope effectively, and how to not avoid situations altogether that are anxiety-inducing. Our ultimate long-term goal is for you to no longer need therapy and be able to manage anxiety symptoms on your terms.
During sessions, you will also learn various cognitive and behavioral techniques that will help you manage stressors and increase emotional regulation and self-awareness. With the use of grounding and breathing exercises, you will learn to regulate your nervous system and interrupt negative thinking patterns.

Anxiety Treatment Approaches
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) or ExRP, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) are the most common approaches we use in anxiety treatment.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
is a form of CBT based on the notion that anxiety is maintained by avoidance and safety-seeking behaviors. In ERP, you will learn to gradually confront feared stimuli while resisting the urge to engage in anxiety-driven behaviors.
In sessions, your therapist will work with you to identify specific triggers, and gently expose you to the feared stimulus in a controlled environment. In this way, you learn to tolerate the anxiety and become less sensitive to it. Over time, this leads to a reduction in the severity and frequency of anxiety symptoms.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
is used to help you develop new coping skills and a greater sense of control over anxiety symptoms. Through psychoeducation, cognitive restructuring, and relaxation techniques, CBT can help you identify and change negative or distorted thinking and behavioral patterns.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
for anxiety focuses on helping you develop skills to manage your emotions and tolerate distress. The use of mindfulness techniques helps you to observe thoughts and emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them.
These tools involve practicing self-compassion and can show you how to identify and manage your emotions in a healthy way.
Our overall goal for treatment sessions is to help you drastically improve your anxiety symptoms, and regain control of your life and happiness.
