Alyssa Kalejs
MA Candidate
Alyssa works with children (6 and up), teens and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, OCD and OCD related disorders, relationships, trauma and substance abuse. She recognizes the courage and strength it takes to come to therapy, and views the relationship as a partnership.
Alyssa utilizes a client-centered approach through active listening, empathy and providing acceptance and support. Clients describe Alyssa as being warm, understanding and approachable. Children and teens connect quickly and easily with Alyssa, noting that she is kind and easy to talk to. Alyssa is skilled in providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). She understands that therapy is an individualized process, and caters her approach based upon each client’s personal goals and needs.
Alyssa is a final year Masters student in clinical mental health counseling at the University of Denver. She will be working towards obtaining her Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC.) She is very passionate about helping children and teens feel seen and heard, while guiding them towards creating a positive future. She recognizes how impactful these developmental years are, and creates a space for her clients to be unfiltered, real and be able to share any issues or challenges they may be facing. In the therapeutic space, she provides a positive environment for clients to be their authentic selves.
Alyssa has seven years of experience working with youth. She has completed an intensive clinical practicum working as a mental health clinician at a Denver high school. She is seasoned and skilled at conducting therapy groups that focus on strengthening self-esteem and communication skills. She has also worked with individuals to help them navigate life’s challenges, and creates a compassionate space for her clients to explore their identities.
In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, skiing, trying new restaurants in the Denver area, and spending time with loved ones.
